I had some halogen spots on a rail over the desk, 4 of them at 50w a piece. Very good in the winter, turn those puppies on and you could feel the warmth on the back of your neck. After the el-meter melted due to the rather rapid rotation of the dials, I got some ecco friendly LED spots. Total crap as they where cold to the point of being violet blue. Not good for painting but strangely good for reading by!
An Old architects lamp with a couple of fluorescent strips in does the nasties over my desk for building and painting. built in dimmer too! More light pull it down, less light move it up!! lol.
Good tip about the triphosphor and HF ballast, I will have to look into those at work.
Could it be the lack of a 6ft double with triphosphor tubes that makes me a rubbish figure painter??????? Although it is more likely that I just cannot paint figures lol
lol I'm trying to rule out all the possibilities, have been trying oil painting faces but with all the highlights/lowlights and blending all i seem to get is someone that looks like they got trapped in a sunbed. I thought sorting myself some decent lighting so i can at least see where i'm going wrong would be a start. I may still have beetroot coloured infantrymen after but at least i can't blame the light
