I'm with mk1, not enough time for modelling. I do my building at work so even if im in the workshop I only get 1 hour day split into two 15min and one 30min breaks. I long for a garden big enough for a workshop!

      Regards

      Chris

Doing a good paint job which takes forever which is then marred by thin decals which tear and/or varnish which doesn't do what it is supposed to. I have had a few issues with Tamiya's matt TS80 lately, which is why I haven't posted anything new recently.

Hi Joe,I'm not a massive fan of Vallejo paints being mainly an enamel kind of guy these days. I know they have their fans (where are you Laurie!) amongst the acrylic users. I am however a big fan of their varnishes. I've used various brands with varying results but have had the most success with the Vallejo products.

I don't know what the availability would be down in NZ but if you can get them they would be worth a go.

          Cheers

Yes here Steve just like a thorn in the backside !

Yes agree Colin some of their pairings are not so good. I always check with others who have produced equivalent lists. But Vallejo do have the largest, with Model Air & Model, array of colours 310 that are available any where so you are more likely to find an equivalent. Tamiya for instance have 86.

You can also obtain from Vallejo hand painted colour cards which will give exact colours.

Same as Mk1 and Chris.Although I don't have ANY time for modelling at the moment.Moved house in Feb and am spending all my spare time doing bloody DIY!.So far I've decorated three bedrooms, put a new bathroom in, laid three laminate floors, put new radiators in and countless other little jobs to keep the misses happy.Should be finished in a couple of months hopefully. The good thing about moving is I've now got a garage in the back garden which I am going to convert into a hobby room. I've got a UPVC door and window that I'm going to fit in place of the up and over type garage door. And I will make a long work bench with the old work tops out of my kitchen. Can't wait to get modelling again. I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms!.Got a new Iwata compressor and Revolution airbrush I haven't had chance to use yet.

Pet hate? Well, love hate actually...........The summer!

This great time of the year gets in the way of modelling....I prefer to slow down until she's out of the way and dark nights are upon us...Then let serious kit bashing commence!

                Cheers,

                Ron

It seems that the wait will "cost the sorrow", luky, Dave, with all this work.

More of a peev really, losing a small part to the carpet monster, scratching a new part to replace it and then finding it when its too late to fit it. That can be soooo annoying.

                      Tony.

I echo that!!! Except in my case parts disappear never to be seen again.

I have put down a grey rubberised mat under my chair now and small light parts show up and do not bounce far so the problem seems to be alleviated - unless it is pe or something that just pings off in any old direction!

One of mine is, holding a part/model waiting for the glue to take hold and not noticing that the glue has taken hold of your fingers at the same time making me part of the model...

I'm with Ron on this one, modelling used to be a winter sport for me, but these days it seems an all year round type thing !

Somebody as daft as I am. Sorry Andy.

It is that self admiration of seeing the joint go together & the levels of the fuselage level & no filler. God so clever am I. Then on release those finger prints so deep & clear. Any detective would be over the moon with such success.

Losing a small part INSIDE the model.

This can be made worse if the little beggar already has glue on it as it will undoubtedly stick in an inaccessible void. Earlier today a landing light lens dropped inside the wing of my DC-3. Several heart stopping moments and much vigorous shaking later I managed to retrieve it.

                                Cheers
