Your love in model making

Wayne posted a hate article about model making. No that did not come out as it should but you know what I mean.

So here is the opposite what do you really love about model making.

Mine. There are many but. After reading a book say about a bod who piloted Wellingtons finding I really knew not a fig about a Wellington Bomber.

To find in making a Wellington I discover so many things. For instance how remote tail end Charlie was from his mates up front for probably 8 to 10 hours.

So what is yours.

I love the challenge in the build but mostly just sitting back in the end and looking at my model whilst thinking. I did that. It's all about enjoyment at the end of the day and i can express my feelings through my work.

I love building the kits in my own style adding little extra's, Then sitting back to look at my past models and feeling happy with the results

And its great when some one gives good comments to your builds like you guys on here and friends and family which really makes it all worth while

What's not to love! For me it's about the whole aspect of model making from researching a subject, finding inspiration from my reading habits (I've a few dio's planned inspired from just sentence or paragraph from the books Ive read) always striving to improve my building skills from model to model, admiring my handy work at the end (good or bad) and then the real proof of the pudding posting some pics on here to share with you guys, my plastic bashing brethren.

Very hard to say.

I enjoy the reading and research as much as the actual model making. It's a constructive way of passing my spare time and as the others have said,at the end of it you can look at something and say "I did that".

for me its the escapism from the real world when I close the door on my little modeling room. plus its a bit of therapy for my mildly arthritic hands.

there's a certain feeling of satisfaction when a kits done which I think we all feel.

Its just a great way of sitting still, (something I am bad at). Relaxing, (something I am also not very good at). and just being able to totally loose my self in the project at hand.

I also find it good threapy for my fingers, and wrists. Not so good for knees, shoulders and elbows though :-(

I love opening the box of a kit i've just bought and examining all the contents.Reading the instructions and looking at the decal sheet.I got a Classic Airframes 1/48 Avro Anson through the post today and was as excited as a little boy on christmas morning!.I got it from Hannants and it was cheaper than what one I bid for on eBay eventually went for.

I'm with you, it's the escapism. I can sit down, throw something on the telly for a bit of background noise, and be in my own private world for hours. Or at least until I glue myself to something!

Like many others here, I enjoy the research, and the ability to focus on something completely different from day to day work and life. I also enjoy the the thrill of opening a box for the first time and seeing all those pieces on their sprues, then constructing the kit and finishing it to a good standard. Being able to show my missus at the end is rewarding, as is sharing the completed product with you guys. I'm so glad I rediscovered modelling.

Undoubtedly, for me, to be able to disconnect.

Sometimes I'm an hour looking the kit or diorama and thinking.... I will Do this ... and here I will paint this way ... often little work I do (This is a motivate for that I am so slow).

But the satisfaction of seeing your finished model and being able to share with all you any kind of comments, it doesn't have price!!!

I'm with the majority, opening the box, seeing the parts and then the satisfaction of taking all those little bits and making a whole I am proud to show to you guys. I also enjoy the research and learning new things, be it how to create an effect or something about the kit I'm building. So many things, I could go on and on.

i think that i have finally found something that my son (21) and i can work at ,we can have a relaxing time together it is so hard to find pastimes that you can use to cement family bonds , also love the research and finished article -so carry on building
