    1/48 scale Do 217N-2/R22

I'm trying to find this in a plastic kit without any luck, was there ever one? Did it ever even exist ?Does anybody have a line on one? I think this is a great looking nachtjager and would love to build this

this thing had some serious firepower and the schrage music set up was intense with 4 upward firing cannons

The only kit for this type is in 1/72 and done by Italeri. There used to be a 1/48 Revell Do217 E-5 kit with a vacform conversion available but i think it's long out of production

Hi trey, Revell/Monogram did a 1/48 dornier 217 in their Pro modeller series, i think its out of production now so e-bay is probably your best hope of finding one. I think it was the standard light bomber so you would have to do a bit of conversion for the night fighter , but seeing the top job youre doing on the fw189 i dont think thats a problem!! cheers tony **** EDIT*****> trey, just found this and its in USA too! good luck mate!

There is/was a conversion set to make the N-2 version. It was made by "Simple Models". Like I say I don't know if you can still get them but E-bay is more than likely the place to start looking or one of the specialist shops such as Revell/Monogram 1/48 Dornier Do217E-4 German WW2 Bomber Kit (85-5526) | Antics Online Model Shop

Her is a link to a review of the conversion set: Dornier Do 217N-2 Night Fighter Conversion Review by Mike Powlen (Simple Models 1/48)

It does look a nice aircraft. Good luck with the hunt.

Mike West of Lone Star Models is supposed to have brought out a Do217 N2 resin conversion apparently

It'll be interesting to see how you get on with the vac form stuff. Personally I can't stand the stuff but a lot of rarer conversion bits can only be purchased in this medium.

Just seeing how you get the bits off the backing will be interesting to me.

Richard never done vac form so this is unchartered territory for me . From what little research I've done it does not seem to be a popular media to deal with so I'm very apprehensive about it. This aircraft has always been a must do in 1/48 for me and this was the only game in town so blindly I dive in with both feet lol wish me luck!

Ive not had a problem using Hannants site either.I get a feeling that they are not popular with some people who use this site?.personally ive never had a problem with them apart from one time at their old shop next to Colindale tube station. One of their staff was rude and unhelpful for no apparent reason.I put that down to it probably being his 'time of the month'.
