    A TSR2 for the stash!

    Hi all,

Had a bit of good fortune today. A few months back I mentioned to a guy at work I was on the look out for a kit of a plane called a TSR2 and I'd been looking for a while. I mentioned again to him last week that I see someone at the Duxford airshow who was lucky enough to pick one up from one of the stands.

Then on Wednesday he came into work and sadi to me "would you like to buy mine off me", so a bit his arm off

The kit is still in all it's original unopened bags and complete and it's the 1/48th limited edition kit I was looking for. I can't believe the size of it for a 1/48th!

He even threw in an old kit of a DH Dragon Rapide too!

So for anyone who's made this kit you can expect a load of incoming questions when I start to build.

Actually, first couple of questions already. I've seen some after market undercarriage in metal and was wondering what would be the best way of gluing these to the plastic? Never attempted any aftermarket parts before.

Also, any advice on what the best colour white to use? I mainly use Tamiya acrylic but not sure what tone the anti flash white is similar too.

    Atb,

    Colin.

Its a big bugger in it!! Mine is still in the box and I am going to get all the After market stuff I can throw at it.

If you want THE anti flash white, there is only one option. White Ensigns' colour coat https://www.whiteensignmodels.com/p/RAF+Antiflash+White+AC+LE+01/4403/#.UFy5j40aN3M

Its enamel I'm afraid, but their paints are great and paint very well. I would advise a matt white undercoat.

I have seen some fantastic builds of this amazing aircraft and the resin add on's look amazing. I hope that you will post your build.

It is a great looking kit isn't it.

I was talking to the guy a bought the model from about the colour and mainly about making sure the wings don't let the light through when held up. Do you think a white undercoat would help stop this?

Also he mentioned about Gorilla Glue(?) but I wondered if he meant Gator glue for the metal undercarriage?

Thanks for the info. about WEM antiflash white paint, I've got a few pots of other colours for spraying roundels but haven't tried them yet.

I must admit to being a little concerned about building this kit as I'm still quite a novice builder and hope I'd do it justice.

        Colin.

Gorilla Glue do a series of glues including a wood glue, superglue and one for bonding dissimilar surfaces. I imagine it is the latter that your vendor was referring to. I've not used the stuff so can't pass a judgement.

Depending on the attachment I've glued white metal parts using superglue or epoxy in the past.

+1 for WEM Colourcoats here, they are my default paints generally.

          Cheers
