    It's still raining this morning!

Luckily I don't get flooded despite the presence of a river about 100 yards from the end of my back garden. There is a ford a couple of hundred yards up stream at the mill where Tolkein lived (it's supposed to be THE ford featured in one of his interminable books). You wouldn't want to attempt to drive through it this morning! Some idiot will try and will need rescuing. The Fire Brigade should charge them.

The rain hammering down on my den whilst I tried to get an hour in on my latest project yesterday was distracting

Yesterday i travelled from Edinburgh to Loughborough (Midlands) to pick up the daughter and son-in-law.

Southern scotland i travelled through 1ft standing water (on and off for about 60 miles), north yorkshire we had heavy torrents, standing water and high winds. didn't see an artic or large lorry moving (all in lay-bys). in the midlands it was dryish and sunny.

Started at 0400hrs and got back at 1930hrs doing 600 odd miles (mostly on three cylinders as the water found it way up into the electrics ...bugger)

We passed Morpeth turn on the way back up and the water was like a river flowing across the main road down into the village, they've suffered immensely apparently.

Not affected up here so far as we're high up (bordering the Pentland Hills).

There's a road near me which used to be a ford till they diverted the river under the road but when it does flood someone gets stuck every single time. On Monday when it was accompanied by strong winds I was crossing the channel. P&O said it was the worst conditions this year. How I kept my beer down I dont know!

          I think

a bit of rain in England.
is an understatement, my local news program has just said that the A1 motorway has just reopened as the flood water has receded:shocking:, and my garden has a pond where there wasn't one two days ago. Lucky I live at the top of the high ground in Darlingon as the Skerne, the river that runs through the town was close to flooding today, and my GF's boss was sandbagging her front door yesterday. Still, I think the rains stopped now, I hope.

          Tony.

I woke up to find Jersey surrounded by sea. What a fright.

Terrible day just a few sculling clouds with 90% sunshine.

Never mind tide probably goes out tomorrow.

Still throwing it down here, when they said years ago it would rain for 40 days and 40 nights the Welsh turned round and said bring it on, it would be a nice Summer...
