    flightradar24

i was wondering if there are many people on here that use this app? flightradar24? i absolutly love it. for anyone that doesnt know what it is.. you go onto this app and you can watch aircraft. you can see what plane is going over your head aswell..the app tells you what plane it is, wheres its been and where its heading and more. where i live in north london, right above me is one of the flight paths going to heathrow, and i get to see loads of planes..most nights an emirates airbus A380 flys over..so i watch it on the computer coming from dubi usually, then when its about to fly over, ill go out and look up at it. ive gotta admit, my mates think im pretty sad. ha!!! but i find it so interesting. you can use this app on your computer..you can also use it on your phone, but only Iphones and android phones. sadly i have a blackberry so cant use it on there unfortunatly. which i find annoying..but when you use this app on the phone, you point your phone at the plane in the sky and it tells you everything about the plane. does anyone else use this flightradar? and what do you think?

I'm using a phone on the Bada operating system so wouldn't be able to use this unfortunately, might be interesting

Most of the aircraft flying over us are quite low anyway as we're on the flight path for aircraft such as chinooks transporting personel etc up north and we are only a few miles from the main airport.

Its a wonder the MOD havent got interest in this app as everyone that is using it could help monitor the skies ....

i.e. if a plane you point your phone at doesnt have any info attached then it could be programmed to send the location of the plane to the MOD to investigate.

CDW, you could always try looking at in on your laptop. the app lets you report and aircraft if you think its gone off track aswell..say if the flight was from london to america, then you see the plane heading elsewhere, you then report it on flight route error. its so clever. my aunt lives in clydebank in scotland..im trying to get her into flightradar, but she said not many planes pass over her..maybe thats her excuse for..im not interested.

Just tried it (looked like a puma going over?).... and .... no it doesnt, a good thing maybe

It is only able to track aircraft equipped with an ADS-B transponder, (probably why it only showed 1 plane at edinburgh airport, and i could see 4 stacked up ready to come in from my window) and aircraft above countries where the app can retrieve data from radar (i.e. the FAA) and this is delayed 5 mins where-as the transponder fitted aircraft are in real time (of sorts)

Its quite a groovey app though, lets you see just how complicated it is up there (even without all the aircraft showing)
