Harvest Fair Blue Ribbon & Best of Section for "A Wooden Tommy-Gun!"

Sonoma County Harvest Fair, Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Santa Rosa, California, October 7, 2012. Category: Woodcraft, Any Other. Blue Ribbon & Best of Section for "A Wooden Tommy Gun":

Closing in, I added a small model-cartridge display, with a model-scale cartridge in cherry wood and brass, with metallic bronze acrylic finish, and mora wood and brass full-scale, natural finish. This helps visually convey the scale difference between the larger model and the full-scale "Real Thing."

Getting in a little closer at the prize display.

I included a presentation-folder, just seen to the right on the shelf; a good presentation can make a big difference, and I'll have to see if I can make a write-up on the subject.

This prize couldn't have come at a better time; it gave me a big lift when I really needed it! It was well received, and one of the younger staff ladies came up and said "I want to shake the hand of the artist who made this!" When waiting for the elevator returning home, one of the other residents and her aide came out, and I showed them the prize-winner; as they moved off, the younger lady said "That's really cool! I like guns!"

    Regards, John

Nice one John, and well deserved my friend. Wouldn't mind a full scale one myself.

            Regards
