I really want to start modelling again!

Hey guys, I really want to start modelling again I miss it so much! But the thing is iv just moved into our first home, and I have all my equipment in the shed, couple models to do but only problem is im limited with what paints I have and cant really afford to buy more to follow the color guides I need for the 2 models, you guys got any suggestions? Can I just use the colors iv got and see what I can come up with or what?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

technically all you need is red. yellow. blue. black and white as all colours can be made from these.

you would benefit with a silver and some brass\gold colours.

I don't buy specific colours and mix a lot myself. you don't have to be exact as colours look different on models when compared to the real thing.

have a bit of a play around and try some colours on scrap bits to see what they dry like.

just paint with whatever colours you have got mate, after all it is a hobby and you are supposed to be enjoying yourself, have a look in the bonus sig forum for a "what if", and make something up,i for one have never seen a blue and turquoise spitfire, might make a refreshing change . what colours do you have

        Great suggestion Colin.

Also, you could jump in on the "What if.." SIG build.

Basically you paint the model in whatever camo scheme you want...as long as the real thing hasn't already been done in that scheme so if you have a kit and enough paints to do something you could give it a go. Have a look and see what you think, take inspiration from other builds that have already been completed, do what you want...after all, you bought them. Just make sure you read the inital post by Ian first.

If you want an F14 that looks like something out of an Earth-bound Star Wars, a red and white Mess. 109 or a Stealth bomber that looks like something out of Battle of the Planets who's to say no (those are actually some of the "What if.." builds).

If you are to mix any colours, The small paper ketch-up cups you get free in KFC/Burger Kingetc etc are great to use.

if you use 35mm film pots then you can keep the colours you mix for future use.

top tip ...... go to boots. sainsburys. or anywhere that processes film and they'll probably give you a bag of them for nothing. we used to get them to house baby tarantulas and got through thousands of them.

sandwich paste jars are handy too, for that matter any small jar, also in Kfc,Mc d's etc you'll find coffee stir sticks which are perfect for a multitude of uses
