Just bought the Airfix 1/48 Operation Herrick British Army Troops so i can paint them up as modern US military in order to finish my Blackhawk Down diorama (will post pics when its finished). Cost a tenner for 8 figures and i've been waiting for them to be released for months.
The figures are in hard plastic, there's a considerable amount of flash and mismoulding for a supposedly new moulded kit and are totally inferior to all other manufacturers 1/48th figures.
The figure parts are attached to the sprues in places that need very careful seperation from the sprue, the head for example, is attached at the neck and you have to tediously trim the excess plastic off so as to leave a decent area to attach to the body .... which is also attached by the neck in most cases.
The weapons are total shash .... just a thin bit of plastic thats hardly detailed and is attached to the sprue with more plastic than is in the actual part.
If you really really need these figures to complete a diorama (as i do) then be prepared to faff around for longer than usual to get them half decent for painting....... luckily at 1/48 the cruddy moulding will be covered in paint and willl be too small to notice .... hopefully
