johnsons klear now branded as pledge multi surface wax

hi,i have been trying to get hold of johnsons klear but no you cant get it anywhere.i have now found out that it has been re-named pledge multi surface wax.i tried all major stores but could not find it.so i looked on good old ebay ,to my shock it was on there, but the prices were as high as £28 i could not beleive it,the rest averaged about £7-£8 plus postage.to my shock i went shopping with the missus to asda this morning and low and behold they had it for £3-16 .the date is 14/11/12 so people dont think this is an old post,so come on guys get shopping to asda

Tuffty I think your a little behind the times, the renamed version as you call it has been around for a few years now! it works just as well as the original Klear but is a milky colour.

The ebay prices are amazing aren't they tuffty. At the end of the day, Klear is meant to be a cheap alternative to gloss varnish - and nothing more. Why would anyone pay 20 something pounds for Klear ?? Just buy varnish instead.

Sorry to hear about your accident Tuffty, I too have only returned to modelling in the last two years and so missed out on using the original Klear. But the new Klear works just great and as Colin says it is just a acrylic varnish saying that it's cheap, it should last you years, and is great at the decal stage. I personally apply it with a flat soft brush although you can spray it.

As said mate Klear has gone mental - and the Pledge stuff (as much as it looks worrying) with a little thinning (we're talking drops here)works just as well. I did 2 parts of a canopy one in each klear and they looked identical when dry.

Hope you get somewhere, these might help

                See my video for info.

DO NOT be fooled into thinking you need the old (clear) formula Klear.

The new stuff does exactly what the old stuff did, as said also, the sole selling point of Klear was that it was a very cheap acrylic gloss varnish, ideal for pre decal application and dipping clear parts, nothing more, nothing less.

£28+ as seems to be the going rate takes it into the realms of something like Xtracrylix, which is far superior and drys like lightning avoiding the dust magnet properties of Klear while it's wet.
