    Back at it again

I finally got home on Sunday to find my pre-ordered FW 190 Vol 2 has arrived.

In order to recover from finishing work at 6.00 am on Sunday morning (after a 23 hour day!) I shall relax and read it. I'd been working on that show (for a member of our most popular "boy band") since late October without a day off,so a few days of self indulgence are definitely in order

I shall shortly revive my ongoing Lancaster thread and attempt to get that finished.

I now also have access to my beloved books again.....woo hooo!

    Cheers

    Steve

Happy reading Steve. Was it our Mr. Williams at the O2 arena that I saw Saturday?

          It was Ian.

Our problems were compounded because we couldn't possibly get out the 90 tons of sh*t we had hanging in the roof, along with the stage, extra TV lighting, cameras, cranes etc by 3 am when the Rolling Stones mob turned up to put their show in!We finally left at 6 am after what you might call a 3 hour crossover.

We'll be back tomorrow to remove the final 30 odd tons of sh*t before Alannis Morissette goes in.

I can hardly tell you how excited I am about that

Well I would just like to thank you. Not a great fan of the guy, but he's entertaining. It was a great concert though.

Are you sound, lights or both?

I know just how you feel Steve. I have had a few "long weekends " ripping out shows in the West end putting in a concert then ripping the set to put the show back up. S**ty hours but the pay was good. Even better when the TV came on set. They doubled whatever the theater was paying ... Can you still score double tripple time these days

Background in lighting, which is what I was doing for RW. I'm glad you liked the show. Most who watched won't realise that technical and then full production rehearsals for the three o2 shows, the last of which was televised, started at the beginning of November. These slick and complicated shows don't just happen! There were 90 crew working for RW production excluding the TV production crew. That's a considerable expense which most will have no idea even exists.

No doubles or triples for us these days.Day rates, which are great unless you do two days for the price of one. Luckily that is the exception rather than the rule!

I'm not complaining, even at my age when I don't take on the really long jobs anymore (I like to pretend I'm semi-retired,though SWMBO might not agree ) I can make a decent living on my terms. I'm lucky and grateful to be in that position. I know that there are many much less fortunate or lucky than me.

              Cheers

              Steve

I say Steve. You don't have to actually listen to all those people do you?

I certainly had to listen to Robbie........everyday for nearly a month ! He's not my cup 'o tea but he does have some good tunes.

The others are just shows that we got in the way of,or vice-versa,due to the various agents' and o2's booking schedule.

Sometimes you have to listen to something you actually like!

I had a preliminary perusal of the book. This volume covers the later versions of the aircraft from A-6 onwards. It also has a lot more on how and by whom it was used, somewhat reminiscent of one of Caldwell's histories in parts. It's packed with information and a lot of photos, some will be familiar to Fw 190 fans, and is a thoroughly good read. These first two volumes give a pretty comprehensive history of the Fw 190 A. If you are interested in the type I'd buy them while you can. I can see these volumes going for silly money once they are out of print in a few years time. They are probably as good an investment as a bottle of original Klear

I'm asssuming the third volume will cover the "Dora" already well covered by Crandall's two volume epic which I'm lucky enough to have in my library.

                      Cheers

                      Steve

You poor sod! That's as close to Hell as I could imagine without actually going there.

                          I know the feeling.

It is like watching television with Pauline in charge of the "clicker thing".

She hands it to me when she shuffles off to bed. Very kind.
