    Sad Death

I received some sad news today from the Secretary of the Surface Warships Association.

George Peat suffered a fatal heart attack on Saturday whilst in his garden.

George was a personal friend of mine and I know will be missed in this forum for the kind help and advice he has given.

i met george through this forum, and met him a couple of times, one of those characters you will never forget, his knowledge and helpfulness in all things warship seemed to have no end.

It is a sad loss to the various clubs and associations he was part of as well as this forum.

            bid `ye farewell.

George's death has come as a great shock to those of us at his local club. He had been a stalwart member of EMBC for more than 30 years and there were few Wednesday coffee nights and Sunday sails when he didn't appear. Many of us less accomplished modellers are deeply indebted to him for the advice and assistance he so freely gave in getting our models to perform satisfactorily. Strangely I had been sailing a boat yesterday that now uses one of George's old motors and is all the better for it. It was only on my return home that I saw KenP's sad message.

George's pawky sense of humour and banter will be deeply missed.

Only picked this message up this evening (Monday).

Having known George from the very beginning of the Surface Warship Association I know I will miss a great friend, and I also feel for Mags his his other half. Both fun to be round, and as I said great friends to one and all.

I'd like to pass on deepest sympathy also from my other half, Ann, and daughter Sarah, both of whom got on really well with George.

RIP George, modelling will miss you.

                Chris

*** Mark,I was thinking just the same today,it would be lovely to see models cherished in the future from skilled past modellers like George, just like we view paintings from past masters,I am sure that we will continue to enjoy his masterpieces in some way in the future.
