blocked glue bottles

Hi, I've managed to get both glue bottles blocked and can't get them clear, they are the Revell touch and flow type, really common cement.

I've resorted to to my brush-pot but would like to get them working again, does anyone know of a good way to do this? I've tried to poke a pin through and tried soaking in turps but nothing.

If it's the normal thin metal tube type applicator then i have a piece of telephone wire (stripped of its insulation) for this very purpose, it needs to be longer than the tube to poke all the crap out.

Also if blocked solid then a micro drill bit clears it out as well. I've had to do this a few times especially for super glue bottles

Try pouring boiling water over the metal tube - that works for me.

I hold the needle type applicator over a gas flame - the heat melts the glue inside, then I blow it out from one end. I always burn my lips at this stage because I never learn from my mistakes. Nobody will do such a stupid thing as me but if you do, do remove the applicator from the bottle of glue, else it might all catch fire!

I often use the flame from a lighter to clear mine.

I hold the bottle in one hand whilst gently squeezing the bottle and apply the flame with the other, I find this works as better than a piece of fuse wire pushed down the tube.

The best way to prevent this, though is to give the bottle a squeeze after every use to clear the tube, although it is all too easy to forget.

I find the fine wire that florists use for flower arranging has many uses including this one (pinched from SWMBO) Derek

Another wire user here. I just use a twisted up single strand of off cuts of wire from the tool box.

I use a useless boring tool for mine...a broken drill bit.

Thanks for all the help guys, I turned it around over a flame, it sort of spluttered and burned a little and ......its clear, great help as always! M

I use a strong fine peice of wire or if I lose that then I use a syringe needle..... no im not a smackhead. Neighbours a medic lol
