It is a shame, but not that much of a surprise, it always sounded too good to be true.

      Cheers, Andrew

I bet there's a few relieved Spit owners around ! But yeah, it's a pity...

I was always sceptical, not least because of the lack of a paper trail. It seems that what paper trail there is would support the contention that these aircraft were never there.

I won't need to dig up my back garden looking for those crated Merlin engines now

          Cheers

I guess if they can find Richard III under a car park in Leicester then you never know what's buried out there

Shame, but predictable I suppose, if the spits, rare Mk XIV's at that, had been there, the previous military government would had dug them up and sold them to fund the regime.

We had a neighbour some time ago who had one purpose in life. Never to visit the local dump.

A motor bic he dug a hole & buried it in the back garden. A fridge & a number of items went the same way.

Years from now they will be discovered as relics. Just wonder if he has a prepared burial chasm for himself yet.

Tom a nice character bought a builders level & we watched as he fathomed out how to use it. He obviously could not understand why the bubble kept disappearing.

Pity about the spits . It would have saved a lot of money as they are looking for aircraft for the two new carriers.
