Bestest Xmas Present Ever

When you were a kid you desperately wanted a certain present !! What was it? DSid you get it?

Mine was a Johny seven mobile weapons system ! It was the dogs danglies I remember showing off the grenade launcher to my next door neighbour along with the detatchable pistol and several rounds of ammo that it fired !!! Happy Days

Mine was an electric R/C car that i always wanted ever since i saw my first one in a tamiya cat,and that christmas i got a tamyia Falcon Buggy and my dad spent all night building it for me,and he also built one for my brother and will still have them both.

A really lovely Hornby O Gauge train set with lots of accessories such as points,signals etc,I can still smell that special Hornby/Meccano factory finish,these were quality toys without a doubt,having sold it many years ago I found a similar set in an antique shop still in the box,I purchased it for old times sake and treasure it.

Christmas really was great as a kid,we never used to sleep one bit and it seemed ages before it became light,I can be really thankful for a lovely childhood thanks to my parents bless them.

Do you remember how you used to get a sock filled with oranges,fruit,nuts etc all part of a wonderful christmas,ah,what nostalgia you have set off Nigel ! those days will never return will they ?

I remember getting my sock filled with oranges,fruit,nuts but my mum stop as we kept putting them back in the bowl,but those where the days when christmas was christmas.

My Christmasses as a kid were much of much more value than we seem to have nowadays.

My most memorable one was a couple of years before I went to college when I would be about mid teens when my Mum and Dad got me a Tamiya King Tiger and an American Tank of some sort, both 1.35th. To me in those days they were the absolute ultimate in models as they had independent motors with a wire to a control box which contained the batterys and two levers for the track controls. I made an attempt at a bit of extra detail and used one of my Grans hair nets as a camoflage net for the American tank and it actually worked very well. I loved those two models and they had pride of place on my bedroom shelf for many years.

I don't even seem to be able to find a church that will do a traditional carol service nowadays. All the songs have been modernised to an unrecognisable degree and made politically correct, which is just beyond me. Christmas seems to have lost its way a bit, which I put down to a sign of our modern attitudes and I'm afraid it will never return in the way it was.

One strong memory was my Mum and Dads special Spode dinner service which only ever came out for Christmas Day. Mum still has it all on display but it never gets used now so I am collecting my own through Ebay. Many fond memories.

best xmas pressie i have ever had is ive got to say is my fabuous original thunderbirds Tracey island with all the metal models of the thunderbirds machines. I loved them then the year after that my dad thank you dad built me a cloudbase whiched light up and was wonderful all my figures and ships could fit on the ship he made it scratch using i cant remeber but my dad broke it because i was naughty and so he got angry me very naughty lol

Best Christmas present ever!

Hello all, Yes I did get the present I most wanted ever. I was in fisrt year at secondary school when asked if we had asked Santa for anything (11 - 12 year olds! ) special. Well I had sent my last letter to the Big Man asking , nay, pleading for the newly launched Lego Technic Car. I believe this was the first (1976) year that the Lego Technic branding was available. What a commotion in our house that Christmas day whne all three of us kids opened our presents. I was absolutely over the moon when I opened my stocking (BIG STOCKING) and there was the most excellent gift ever. Yes the Lego Car was there in all its glory. This took about 3 days to build in its entirity. I've no idea what either my sister or brother received then :question: oster_oo

What is more I recently pulled out all of my old Lego for my son (5) and daughter (4) and most of the components to build this car are still there muddled through the rest of the box full. The beuaty is that now we can add a lot more pieces to the box which can do so much more interesting things, but I doubt if ever any other gift will bring as much pleasure as that one did. Now after all of those years I'd like to thank my parents :respect1: for that final believing in Santa gift :bravo:

I hope that all of you have one particularly memorable piece like that too.

hey jim, me too, LEGO was it for me - the big space lego set was on my list.... and man it was great building spaceship and scattering lego bits all over the carpet- mad to think i still do this now with my kids at home and i also do it all day and get paid for it !- what a crazy world we live in now !

***You really are the countries Mr LEGO,Guy a real expert in your field,I wonder how many bricks you have handled since you started buildng in this medium ? the models are magnificent.

There have been lots of copies but non like the true system,is it true that there was a copy system that was so alike that the company brought them out to kill it off ? this also happened with the Black & Decker workmate,in fact they just added their own label because the copies were so exact.

But they do say that to copy something is a sign that it is a good product.

yes lego was cool them days but i still prefered my thunderbirds, stingray and captain scarlet figures and bases
