    Twist drill bits......

The ones I have now are Mircrobox and the 3 smallest ones (0.3mm upwards) snapped first time I used them. Can anyone recommend a cheapish but good quality set of twist drill bits?

Hi Alex, I found the same problem until the 'boss' bought me this last Christmas. Lets you drill fine holes without putting too much force on the drill. Cheers Derek

Thanks Derek, that looks like a useful bit of kit. I'm assuming that all these tiny drill bits snap no matter what the brand?

microbox, there the ones with the thick shank aren't they?

I snapped my 0,5 as well!!! lol

The trick is they are twist drills and not push drills. I use mine in a pin vice and have since I broke the thinest one not broken any more.

The drill thing Derek mentioned IMHO the quickest way to break a bit and bugger a model. Each to their own. I have one of them and use it only on wooden models and only on unfinished/painted/varnished ones at that.

I have used (for other things) Expotools. You could try :

              Expo Drills & Tools

The following pages show bigger diameters of bits.

              But John sells them.

Thanks for the feedback Ian and the two Steves. Guess there's only one way to find out and that's to buy a new set and see. I'll let you know what happens when it happens
