Political Correctness - a World gone MAD!

For those of you who are unaware, this years sees the bi-centenary celebrations of the battle of Trafalgar. A time gone down in the annals of history as a great and decisive sea battle.

To celebrate it the Festival of the Sea takes place in Portsmouth this year. There will be foreworks, ships from over 40 countries, model boat exhibitions and a historical re-enactment of the battle using real ships (doubt any will sinl though!).

For those of you who will manage to head South and have not found their wives have committed them to be in Aberdeen - I am jealous! Have a great time and do not waste it thinking of me!

Now we come to the PC problem. Apparently we can restage the battle and celebrate a great tactical and strategic victory but we cannot say that we beat the French. That fact has to be erased from history after 200 years.

    The solution .....

The Red Team will take on the Blue Team. (I will not spoil the result for those of you who manage to go).

    Has the World gone mad???

Seems Ironic really that we cannot say we beat the French, after all, every other nation that they have fought has also defeated them...The French have never won a war in their entire history !!

If you want a laugh...go to Google and type in French Military Victories into the search box and then click the I'm feeling lucky button.

Check out the response !! Says it all really :hehe:

    Regards.......Mark

Come on, "English"? You must have heard of the oldest regiment in the BRITISH army....The Royal Scots. Now I suppose the thought police will be calling. Who brought Nelson back from Trafalgar by the way ?

A someone who lives on the South Coast, right opposite the site for the Fleet Review, I'd like to ask for help to two problems.

              1) With Trafalgar Day on 21st October, how come the celebrations now?

              2) How the hell can I get my car out to go to work etc with all the extra traffic round here?

              Regards

              Chris

PS Unfortunately, due to work commitments will not be able to attend either Fleet Review or IFOS this year, so cannot offer to take photo's for you not attending. Sorry.

                    Hi Duncan,

With two days to go, it's the same problem.

Locals here can't even get over the roads walking to the beach, and price of helicopter rides gone through the roof, apart from the risk of being shot down.:censored2

Did manage to see some of the vessels this morning at 0530, but not able to photograph them. From 0700 onwards, constant stream of traffic past the front door again!
