Good News! Health improved so much I'm "graduating" from hospice!

For my health insurance I have an "HMO" which I will describe as meaning (SARCASM ON) "Health Mangling Organization" (/SARCASM OFF)! From June/July 2011 thru July 2012, they managed to do a pretty good job of that. I've been diagnosed for about 15 years or more with a terminal illness, but have been surviving longer than expected, and apparently I'm a pretty tough old bird, not easy to kill! The "therapy" I was prescribed to treat the side effects of the illness had worse side effects of its own; add to that the bad side effects of the medication to moderate the side effects of the treatment to moderate the side effects of the illness!

That made me so ill as to be diagnosed Stage 3 terminal, and qualified me for Hospice services; the Home Healthcare Aides have been superlative in their positive attitudes which itself was a big support, and my basic health has slowly been re-covering (some of the damage may not be heal-able) to the extent that I'm expected to live a few years instead of a few months before I become "down for the count" so I'm being graduated from Hospice in about another week.

I'll miss the fine company, and these folks really like me as I've been one of the few of their patients who talk at all; many old folks are just "Waiting For God" (remember the telly show of a few years back? I'm just a little like "Tom;" pity I have no "Diana" next door!). I really have to admire the aides, it's a challenging vocation which requires "a lot of heart." They all say they will miss me as well, and promise to stop and say hello when they're in the neighborhood.

A new chapter in a day in the life ...

    Regards, John

Great to hear your news John...do you get a graduation certificate and a presentation ceremoney?...Im sure the aides would be willing to do that as I bet you were a breath of fresh air to them in their trying position..

That is great news Sir, does this mean you have to move from your apartment again or is the Hospice separate...

Looking forward to seeing some new "weapons" being made now...

I live in my own apartment, it's In Home Hospice Services. If I had really deteriorated as expected, I would have qualified for moving into a Hospice, but that's less ideal than staying in your own home, which my apartment is to me. That's also one of the good things that Hospice Service does, try to help you stay in your own home if that is your desire.

I'm getting a good few bits done now on the submarine, but I'm torn with the fact that July is rapidly approaching, and I would really like to get the M2HB 1:3 exotic-wood natural finish ready but I 'm afraid there won't be enough time, and I'm really comitted to getting work done on the sub, even though it's probably a year away from being complete.

If I can find any info on the original B-17B, C, & D Type E-4 side-gun adapter, I will have to model one of those as it's the original side-adapter for the "Swooze," the world's oldest existing B-17.

Well, I better get on to posting something on the sub work!

                        Regards,

                        John
