A Chinook flew over my house today.

I reckon it must have come from Biggin Hill, and it was headed towards London. What a fantastic noise it made!

It made me realise I must get on with my heli build.

quite common to see choppers (including chinooks) flying up the coast delivering troops to the bases up north. well worth stopping what you're doing to look up

I too love the noise, again quite often over my place. Best time was bout 9pm last autumn from memory when out in my shed only to have two fly over at very low level. The shed shook and the thud thud thud radiated through the bones....wicked :-)

I understand that they are going to RAF Wattisham in Suffolk.

They fly regular over my house sometimes there are Appache's and Jolly Greens as well.

Sometimes 1 sometimes 2 and they fly directly over.

They are prolific here, the RAF are always out playing with them ....... I live in Aldershot, work in bordon and just up the road is RAF Odiham where they are based.

Like Peter says, Chinooks are a common sight in this little corner of Hampshire and one flew over my house last week too. But today I had a real treat - a DC-3 Dakota with D-day stripes droned overhead this afternoon.

Flew a couple of times in a Chinook, cann't say I enjoyed it. If you sat at the rear it was like sitting on the wagging tail of a dog. 45 Men were killed and two survived when a British Airways (BIH) crashed in the North Sea in Nov. 1986. Gearbox failure, tail half broke away and rotors sliced through the cabin, You wouldn't believe the carnage. Derek
