    Waddington - tickets

I'm thinking of going to Waddington airshow next Saturday, the weather looks good, but advance tickest are no longer available. Has anybody else just turned up on the day and paid at the gate in the past ? I would hate to drive for 2 hours only to be told no.

    Cheers

Colin , you should be able to get advance tickets from selected branches of HSBC and Morrisons , up until friday 5th i think. The waddington airshow website has a link to participating branches in your area , if not then you can pay on the day, but you'll save £7 per ticket if you buy them up front, cheers tony

p.s. I got mine from Morrisons , if you do the same ,be aware you can only pay cash.

Thinking of going along to this too weather permitting

Never been before and it's a couple of hours trip, is it a good show?

Like the look of the line up, seems to be a good few fast jets plus the Red Arrows to keep the wife happy

Also see Hannants have got a stand there too so better take the wallet!

        Atb.

Its massive colin, loads of traders , displays ,hangar exhibits , static aircraft park etc . and a 7 1/2 hour flying display. You'll probably be parked right at the far end of the runway ,about 1 mile away from the main area , but dont worry , theres a free (but we always chuck 20p in the donations bucket every time we ride ) shuttle service provided by the lincs historic vehicle society all day , so youre able to ride back and forth any time . tony

                Thanks all for your input.

                Tony,

Cheers for the advice. It seems I got mixed up, it's online tickets you can't get any more. However, can you believe it, neither Morrisons or HSBC are selling tickets in Stafford, or even Stoke ! So it looks like I'm paying on the gate. That's fine as long as I can get in.

                  Colin,

My reason for going is simply I want to see the Vulcan take off and land. I've seen it display a few times, but never either take off or land.

                  Colin M..

Now then, what's going on with the name Colin. I always thought it was a bit unusual - it now seems there's quite a few of us Colin's around.

Well we got in. Only qued from about 0735, then into purple parking. However, I did hear that at about 0930 ish, they had anounced over the radio that if you haven't got a ticket, turn around and go home !

So, a good show and I got to see the Vulcan take off and land (never seen it do that before) It actually took off right in front of me.

Did anyone else make it there on Saturday - and do you think the top individual act was the Jordanian F 16 - like I do. He must have been good, he set the most car alarms off near me.

It seems we're like buses, no sign of a "Colin" for ages then three turn up at once

                          Colin

Glad everyone had a good time at the show, bit far for me unfortunately (as usual)

Yep, we were there too . Not sure what colour car park we were in but it was the other end to the Vulcan display. Stayed over the night before at the local Premier Inn (other hotels are avaliable ) and had a nice breakfast before heading off to the traffic queues! Got into the grounds at about 8.30 and parked up along the runway viewpoint.

Never been before and really enjoyed the day, weather certainly played it's part. Seeing the Red Arrows in 2000 acres of blue sky is amazing, and as you guys say the turkish F16 display was awesome! At one point I'm sure he had the "back end" out when pulling through a turn

One of the highlights for me and the missus was sitting in the cockpit of the Algerian air force C130 with the pilot giving you a guide around the workings . Excellent!

I'll try and post some pics of the show later, mostly ground display as like to watch the flying display with my eyes rather than struggling with my view finder. Got a video too taken form underneath the Vulcan wing as it was towed out over our heads ready for take off. Any ideas how I can post video on here?

I was really restrained. I only bought a pack of sanding sticks - no models. What about you Tony, or anyone else ?
