To take part in an event...

Hi guys, can you give me an advice...?

In september will have four days of holidays. The plan is visit a beautiful city on the north...and the nice surprise, there is a modeller event!!!

I have never been in one, and I'm not from any club too...my experience is zero...

I read some of you go to this events, and participate on they...

It is a nice experience? You recommend it? Or is better don't go with any model and just visit only?

I don't know what to do...! Any comment please.

PS: looks a seriously event....if you see on internet.

    Regards

    Polux

Yes polux, go to the show, you will enjoy yourself loads and as you know from here, modellers are a friendly bunch and its great to see loads of models and discover new ways of doing things. Don't really need to take a model for competition unless you wish to as there will be loads to see and loads of shopping to be done

Go to the show Polux , you will enjoy it and probably spend a lot of euros! If the competition is open to all then why not take a model too and enter it, it takes a bit of nerve to put one of your builds on display but you may just be surprised! cheers tony

Concur with everyone else, go to the show. I used to visit shows before I joined a club everyone I've met at shows is friendly and always willing to chat and share hints and tips. Now I'm in a club I sit behind the table and look forward to people asking me about the models on show. I've entered a few competitions but had no luck yet but its all good fun

Thank you very much for your comments guys.

I see that your response is unanimous.

I'm thinking about it all the night, and will take part on the competition too...

Will go with two models; the SAS jeep 1/6 scale and other not decided yet...

Thanks again. Of course will do a lot of photos to show here, then you can see how looks an spanish event.

Ps: seems there aren't shops or kits to buy...

Being in the Channel Isles I do not get to see other models in the real.

How do I get to find out where the model shows are being held. Does some one produce a list ?

                  Laurie

Aplogies for butting in here Polux.

                      Hi Laurie, don't worry!!

Think I understand your question...! I always want to go an event (since I start with the modelling).

Then I do, like all suppose, search in internet. But never I have luck!!

I don't know why, but almost in spain, this events seems invisibles...

But this week I found a person who show or write a list of spanish events. Thanks to this list I discover the show, it's 550 km far from my home, but I really want to go!!!

Can you search specific words...or visit other forums and coriousity the show and events threads... But here in England seems you have more clubs and events, I'm sure there will be a list somewhere!!

I know is not a great help, sure now will come some member and will give you better information.

                      Regards

First Polux.....go for it. There are a lot of very good Spanish modellers and I'm sure you'll see some great stuff.

Laurie, a good starting point would be the IPMS UK web site. They list all their events.

                        Cheers

                        Steve
