    Another model Shop to Close

Just to let you all know that one of the best stocked model shops I have been into is closing on the 4 Feb 2006. This shop was a predominately an aircraft shop, at the last count there were approx 125 model aircraft kits. From a shock flyer to an 80” CAP 232, but it also had car stuff as well. The reason given by the owner “Lack of support”. It will not be long before we are not able to go to a model shop and will only be able to purchase “mail order”. What is more troubling is that the owner would discount the RRP by 10% or match the price in any of the modelling mags.

Below is the web address of the shop, I know that the shop still has a number of good bargains left.

Steve,it is very sad to hear about yet another model shop closure in the UK,however it is not just this country that is being hit hard with shops closing, only last week Van Hobbies closed its doors for good selling off tons of stock at reduced prices, the reason given by the owner ? just not enough trade to keep them going, yes the internet shopping revolution has hit hard and this is only the very beginning, the need to specialise has become even more apparent, and many on-line shops have been set up on E-bay to cater for the mass worlwide market out there.

Around the area of Warwickshire alone we have scores of shops closing their doors due to the online shopping bonanza taking hold,it is just too late for many of them, but who can blame them ? with soaring costs for property leases, rent etc many are turning to simple warehouse facilities to sell their wares, local high street trade has just been killed off.

Who could have imagined that this would have happened and had such an impact looking back even three years ago ? but it has,and many more shops will go the same route through lack of local trade.
