Well the downside of moving is that I haven't had a workshop for around two years, which drives me nuts. Anyway we moved and I inherited a barn with corrugated steel sides, regularly ventilated, asbestos roof, woodworm in the frames, etc.. etc.. so we decided to pull it down:
Excellent place Sorry Richard...can I ask what kind of truck is thr blue one... ? Looks very interesting ops:
Looks like you have a great pictures on the walls
Polux,
It is a Maxitrax kit of an Atkinson steam lorry. The trailer is a scratch built addition and the rowing boat and cradle was added later. The plant is a Cheddar vertical boiler with a Cheddar Puffin twin cylinder oscillating 'V' engine. I have added a gas attenuator valve to conserve gas but apart from that it is pretty much an out of the box build. I still hope to get around one day to adding some decorative signs and more detail to the lorry, something along the lines of "Simpson's Boat Yard" in an appropriate perioid script. I started to add some cargo to the lorry and will carry on with that when I get back in the workshop. The packing case was made from coffee stirrers one evening when I couldn't think of what else to do!!
The performance isn't brilliant and it struggles with any sort of uneven surface but it does actually work and looks the part with steam coming out of the exhaust!
The pictures are all ships I have worked on, apart from the Bismarck!! The Bismarck picture was given to me by an executive at Blohm & Voss shipyard after he showed me round the 1/50th scale yard model of the ship, kept in a locked up room hidden away in the original yard office, and after I had been for a walk around the slip where she was built. To stand on the slipway where the Bismarck was built and then first entered the water was quite something.
Seems, soon I will follow your "way"... the other day I bought the Hawker 1/24....but before, I had on my hands two interesting RC fishing boats models. Is a step that I want to do, but I don't know exactly when...O_o I'm just waiting for a little signal....
I was wondering the other day how your build was coming along Richard.Maybe these pictures would be better placed in the thread that you started, just to keep it togther.
Ian M
You're right I will dig that out and update it as well. Any idea where it is Ian, I can't find it now!
I've not got my own room unfortunately. We have got a spare bedroom but my wife has got that for her card making room. Luckily we have got a 40 foot lounge with a dining table at one end so I have got my stuff on that. Only just got back into model making after quite a few years off so not got that much stuff collected together.......YET!!!
