I'm looking for the colour "Atholl Blue" the colour of guardsmens greatcoats as worn on public duties outside Buckingham Palace. Using Humbrol Gloss I understand it can be made mixing standard Humbrol colours, can anybody help. Humbrol used to supply an interblend chart, this is nolonger available. I'm a painter and collector of old Britains soldiers

        Regards Peter.

I think it was a search with Google that got me here, glad I found it as I have gained quite a lot of information for my first model.

Hi to all you new guys and a warm welcome, even the ones who signed up by accident!!

I had a look around for a description of Atholl Blue and, apart from it being a popular colour for piano's and swimming pools, there doesn't seem to be a paint guide anywhere. I would suggest that you get hold of an example from say a model figure supplier and have a play with matching it by test mixing some humbrol colours.

I would not have expected though that Humbrol gloss paint whould have been the preferred choice for figures. Either Matt enamel or acrylics would give a more realistic finish for a figure and be a lot easier to blend and tone.

Google, i just googled the words ww2 model forums, and it brought up this site, so i signed up.

I was browsing the net trying to find a site like one i used to use, ww2 model maker, that seems to have stopped working, so i was looking for something similar, hopefully this forum will give me that.
