based in london this supplier has a wealth of expertese and advice , in addition to a very comprehensive list of goods for professional modelmakers and even a section on jobs in the modelmaking industry !- there trees are superb, designed for architectural models but these are just awesome on any model diorama or model railway ( if the wallet allows) and the list of services they will provide is also very useful, from custom designed and produced decals, vinyl graphics to etched parts in both brass and stainless steel....a useful contact.

I was given information about a company called Squires who sell model and craft supplies. I was given their phone number and when I rang the guy said he would send me a catalogue which I received today. Had a look through it and they have loads of stuff at slightly better than normal prices.

If you use Plastiweld or Mekpak for sticking your models together, next time you need some just go to your local trade supplier for plumbing and guttering (not the B&Q type of store) and ask for POLYPIPE pipe cleaning liquid (you must be over 18). It will cost you about £5, for a 250ml container, this works out to less than half price, just refill your original bottles.

It is in fact just raw Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), and use the same safety precautions as you should use with the proprietory brands

Thanks for this addition RJ,this is a company that I had not heard of before ? dont forget that excellent replacement canopies can be made from this material,you just create a simple mould in modelling clay or oasis and pour in the liquid,once cured the canopy is cleaned up with wet and dry paper,then polished with Duraglit,Jewellers rouge or toothpaste.

Excellent deep landing lights,astrodomes etc can also be made from this material and also you need not restrict yourself to clear parts either,there are also colouring agents that can be added to the resin,Alex Tiranti is probably the best person to consult on this addition.
