Time..............And how much do you get?

God my life is busy.

Running a business looking after kids dogs and keeping a large garden and keeping the wifey happy.

How many hours sit down craft time do you get?

Call me weird but im looking forward to winter,dark nights and rainy days.

then at least theres no gardening to do. less out door activites in general.

and rainy days I cant clean windows in.

At the mo im lucky if I get 4 hours a week to myself.

I just want to light my log burner in the greenhouse (its a big greenhouse) and sit where theres plenty of natural light and get on with my models.

Thought retirement would bring me lots of time for model making.

But then what is time ? No touchy no feely. Have you seen it ? Where does it go when it has past. Where does it come from. You can catch it up ! You can leave it behind. Some "times" you have not "got time" so who has got it. Time to go. It does but then seems to come back again. Time to go to sleep : but where does it sleep. We worry when time goes fast but who is speeding it up ? Oh well times up. But first it is time for a cuppa

I spend around an hour most evenings in my shed modelling.Any more than that and I get moaned at by the wife.That I'm neglecting her,how I don't want to be with her,we never talk etc.So Tonight I do my hour,go back in the house and sit in front of the telly with her.5 minutes later she says "I'm going to bed".Whats that all about?!.

Some times Dave I guess there is no pleasing the other halfs. If your like me you can't stand the rubbish on the box and prefer to do something constructive

Another thing is that time always moves forwards, never backwards (unless you believe in worm holes).

Compared to you lot I am an incredibly slow worker, having completed since the New Year two Spitfires and 3/4 (so far) of a Lancaster.

Anyway to answer your question, I have a couple of hours in the afternoon to myself.. 2ish till 4ish and then an hour and half in the evening 5.30 ish till 7 ish.

The other daytime hours are spent looking after the animals, research on other hobbies, cooking, reading, remaining sane and then trying to get to sleep.

Modelling time; none at the moment, we are moving soon and all my model stuff has been packed away. Then the new house will need decorating, the garden will need to be dealt to and I have checks at work coming up again. Could be a while before I get to finish any model project but in the meantime I will enjoy watching everyone's builds here. I'm probably quite lucky with my missus by the sounds of things, she actually encourages me to enjoy my model time ao long as I do the usual chores and make some time for her. Very lucky that she does not like the aforesaid TV shows either.

How do you find time to remain sane Colin. This has eluded me for all of my life. I reserve time but something always turns up. It was the Psychiatrist yesterday.

i work stupid shifts.....12 hour shifts, 2 days, 2 nights then 4 off

some days i just cant be bothered to do anything, some times its 20 mins a day, sometimes its an hour, sometimes its several 20 minute stints a day (can get quite a lot done that way)..........im just going on to my rest days and swambo is visiting the kids oop norf so i home alone plan is to spend hours at the bench!

Those are Airport type shifts.What airline do you work for?.

I get an hour or two most mid-week evenings (3-4 evenings typically) finishing at 10pm when my lady rings me for a chat which is followed by a book and sleep..... One evening a week on average is out due to some commitment or other, or perhaps just because I fancy a pint...

Before I start doing a model I sit in the lounge, eat and watch some tv (usually something recorded or a dvd.)

I do not do any modelling on Saturday's and Sunday's as I stay with my lady and we 'do stuff' - the usual kind of things couples do.

I am lucky working from an office on the lower ground floor of my 5 storey town house, it helps give me more overall time to combine work and play. I expect to move soon though, we are planning to buy a place together and when we do the whole pattern of my life will change (for the better...) I am not looking forward to the logistics of combining two homes and having to change my office as well. Thankfully she is understanding of my modelling 'habit' so when we do move in together I will still have time at the bench.....
