    Wishful thinking??

    I was sitting looking around on the interweb, like you do and was wondering, why is it that there are hundreds of model motor bikes in sensible scales like 1/12, 1/9 and even 1/6 FOR CIVILIAN BIKES. I know there was a BMW combo, a BMW, a Harley and a Triumph military M/C kits but now a thing of legend...

    So why is it that in a hobby that is divided between military and civil models why has none of the big names hit on the idea of large scale military motor bikes.

    Can you imagine a Tamiya quality MC of say a BMW with a side-car, or some US or British WWII motorbike in 1/12 or 1/6...Even I would have a go at one of those...

      I understand your feeling Ian...

      But I suppose the 'big' brands prefer do the classic small military bikes, is the most profitable thing.

      The society and the big majority 'give the orders'.

      There are some very select models, but they are expensive and for a small minority...

          Your spot on Ian , I'm a big SF fan but the amount of kits available to build from kit form is minimal,

                  Mate it isn't just large ones , I was looking at resin kits and I come across the Prometheus from SG1 and it was £90 ! Thing was it was only 6inches long

                          It's like anything else out there in the commercial world, it is all driven by supply and demand and market forces dictate the price of anything. I always think about the cost of expensive low volume cottage industry type things and conclude that if no-one bought one they wouldn't sell them! The prices are dictated by the initial R&D and low volume production costs incorporating high percentage of overheads with the added on part for what the market will pay. If people will pay £90.00 for a model then the manufacturer will continue to supply them.

                          It's just like rubbish on the telly, if you don't like it turn it off!
