I don't know what the original looks like but could you add some longer bits of spare sprue to the original and sand it down to suit your taste then give it a coat of paint?
Failing that I know a few aircraft builders use clear rod attached to a wooden base to good effect.
Hope this helps a bit, someone (who builds aircraft) will hopefully be along to give you some better ideas.

I would assume that the clear rod would be the better option then as you can heat it with a hairdryer or boiling water (I think) and bend it slightly to allow for your 'tilt' that you need.
As you probably have guessed, I'm not an aircraft builder so I'm offering advice on a wing and a prayer hereComment

get a wire coat hanger, .....make a 'base'.....i used a block of wood on the Angel and bent the wire up the jet pipe.......or find something heavy (i use a heavy brass 'thing' i liberated from work that would otherwise end up in the bin after use) ...the coat hanger means that you can angle it how you wantPer Ardua
