You must be a beer man. Try a mixture of Vodka & Gin. Peps the brush up no end.

top tip .... i need to adhere to this one myself!.......dont leave them standing in a bottle of turps or water. it bends the bristles permantly.. sick of reminding myself!

sorry Laurie i disagree, Some of the paints still contain metals and minerals. Model Colour 70.953 Flat yellow contains Cadmium. its pretty much the pots that say do not spray that still have the toxic stuff in them. if you have older sytle bottles you may not see the warnings. i have a small hand full that say non toxic but even them still contain barium. Not sure about tamiya paints but if you read the labels they should tell you, the old citadel deffo had stuff in not sure about the new ones.

I treated meself to a to a couple of Winsor and Newtons and the difference is a bit of a revelation.

Being an airbrusher (acrylic, Vallejo Model Air) I tickle the bristles under the tap and gently bend them where they join the handle. This is to make sure that paint is not hiding there, because that part is not so often dipped in the paint to refresh it. I still found some traces of paint near the handle so I now put a tiny blob of washing-up liquid on, repeat the tickling and bending.

Does anyone see any problem with washing-up liquid?

Not if you rinse it fully, but to be honest even if there's a residue there isn't a problem ....

Just use water Steve. If I have left the brush more than I should have then I use Vallejo airbrush cleaner.

i can highly recommend vallejo brush cleaner and restorer, i only use the cleaner every few weeks as the alcohol can kill sable, i use the restorer the rest of the time and really like it
