    Can't Upload Images

I am trying to upload some images (about 10 MB each, jogs) to Aircraft Pictures but every time uploading using the normal Upload button takes nearly 2 minutes. This is unusually long, (my broadband is ok) and I get something like "There is an error, please use the back button and try again".

    Anyone else getting this?

I'd just drop the size down and try again Steve. The forum software resizes them anyway.

I think the largest I upload is about 1.5 mb and that gets resized down to about 800 x 600 (or it looks about that on my tablet)

I should add I uploaded quite a few images today and had no problems myself, maybe you've tried to uipload them when the forum server was busy?

Thanks. I used an Action in Photoshop which went wrong and did not reduce the size of the images. Its OK now (in Aircraft Pictures).

The images don't however appear in order, even when they are in the correct order in the folder/directory used to upload them. This puts images out of logical sequence. Would it be possible to cure this?

I was having some forum lag issues for a few hours earlier as well. Don't know if it's relevant, but...

If you go into edit in the thread then click and highlight an image and then 'click and hold' to move it where you need it in the page.

I tried that but some files disappeared and some were duplicated. I re-uploaded the missing ones but they are in the wrong order, so its a bit of a mess.

It would be nice if the uploading system uploaded in the order as it receives them. If not, then the only way would be to upload each file separately. Quite a job.

Hmmm that is strange Steve, when I upload any images they appear in file name order

I can also shift them around without problem, even when I'm on my Mac.

I'm a bit stumped ... Might be able to suss it if I were sitting at your comp but that's not an option unfortunately.

What I do is: the files are in order of the first two numerals, ie:

                01 urdtrv

                02 yunyukuim

                03 drtybrvg

in my computer's folder. I press the Upload Files button on the forum page and in the resulting forum window I select all those files, which appear in that window in order. Then I press the forum button that says something like "Upload the files" and a progress bar appears for each. They then appear on the forum page, but in random order. I have noticed this several times before, probably every time I have uploaded more than one file.

Naming the files like that should be logical to keep in order. So no problems there really.

I wonder if it might be something to do with loading each image full size, I upload as thumbnails which I find easier to arrange on my post.

I wouldn't think it would be different (full or thumb) but you never know with some forum software preferences.

What language is that Steve ?

Not had any problems with thumbs or full size. Have had problems with time out on files which I have forgotten to minimalism.

I've had a couple of instances where uploading has put the files into an order I didn't want and I'm not sure what criteria is used for sorting the pictures as they upload. The only solution I eventualluy came up with was to upload them individually.

As for the initial delay I strongly suspect it was because the files were 10 mb, which is huge for online pictures. Even though the forum software will resize them it would take a long time to do it and is of no value as the screen cannot display them anyway. For on line use you need no more than a resolution of 72 dpi, which is standard screen resolution, and a .jpg file size of around 3-400 kb is plenty big enough for a good quality picture of an average screen size.

I just up load pictures as they come.

Then choose thumbnails as the choice. Then just click on them hold & drag to the text they represent & in the order required. One thing I have found is the larger the file the longer it takes to upload.
