The cliff is only about 25 to 30ft and is a soft clay nature, not rock, this just falls away when pounded by really bad storm waves. There is a bit of grass around 20ft or so, a single track road, the a small amount of grass, a caravan the a gap then mine, altogether around 50ft or so. In the last couple of years we have lost at least 5ft! Even if my van is okay it will covered in sand from the waves splashing up and a right mess Si
Unfortunately a major section of Spurn point no longer exists, it was totally washed away. A friend who is involved with the RNLI and rescue services, posted a photo on our local FB site and it was flattened (Nothing there)!

Just found the photo of Spurn Point taken yesterday! Part of the City centre & the Tidal Barrier within 2 feet of being broached!

Not bad up here Andy, the wind was the main problem for the open areas, the pentland hills (that normally channel the wind over us) actually shielded us this time.

We won't have a flooding problem as we're about 300 feet above any major water level and any of the lochs in the hills above us just drain into the country side.

I was worried about my kids in the Midlands but the food map showed no instance in their area

The phone is engaged all the time, so either they are busy or have a line fault. Nothing I can do at the moment, will just keep trying over the weekend.

Wind was bad by us and a old mattress (waiting for the council to pick up) we had outside has blown into my wife's car and broken the door-mirror off, but apart from that it looks like the house and everything else has faired okay.

For your info Si as you have property over here,

Some update photo's of the damage the tidal surge did earlier this month.

The damage is that bad the RNLI crew are living on a boat in the Humber during their duty hours.

Extra high spring tides are expected on Jan 1-2.

Thanks Gregg, great photos, will have to keep an eye out. Was lucky that only one caravan was damaged last time.
