Airfix ! Why oh why ?

Don't you make 1/76 figures or planes ?

Airfix make loads of vehicles and buildings in 1/76 but not any aircraft or figures , I've had to shelve a few projects due to this glaring mistake !

And I find it very strange

It is a hang over from older days using scales to match railway models. 1/76 is roughly 'OO Scale'. There isn't a lot of size difference between the two scales anyway.

As an example a 5 metre object (500cm) in 1/72 is 6.94cm long. The same object in 1/76 or 'OO Scale' is 6.54cm long. Hardly a noticeable difference.

Joe's right Andy, the difference is visually negligible. Lots of modellers combine the two scales.

I have no problem with mixing 1/72 and 1/76 scale models. The difference is so minimal it's hardly noticeable. I even use 1/87( HO) with my OO gauge model railways though you have to be careful with the subject matter. For example, I use 1/87 figures from Preiser because of the sheer variety and seated passengers fit in carriages and road vehicles easier than OO gauge. I have one or two HO wagons that go well but I couldn't use coaches or locomotives in this scale with OO.

Alan, are there not any railway figures around that would suit your purpose? If you have a dig around the internet there is stuff like this around:

but I would use 1/72nd anyway.
