Just now the threads are going through like a deranged conveyor belt!.....I am finding it impossible to keep up - much less post a comment, and I worry folks might think me ignorant for not posting on their models.

This niggles me because I'm sure to miss more than one, and if I don't log in for a day or two, the number is into double figures. I know for a fact that I am missing some great stuff. I know I could troll through the back pages, but how many of us do that on a regular basis?

Does anyone else on S.M. have the same problem? Is there a way to overcome this 'backlog'? Personally, I don't that there is and I'll have to get along as best I can.....

I just click the recent posts thingy Ron , if there is loads of completed threads I usually click the doodab I need and come back later to answer

Just lately we've had a flury of newbies.

I'm sure you'll get around answering all of them eventually

I have noticed the same Ron, so it's not just you. I cleared them all yesterday. Today there were three pages of new posts!!! OK it proves that there is lots of life in the fora. It does make it rather hard to keep up. As Alan pointed out there are a few new members that have posted some of their work up. Also a great thing.

As for missing one here and there, it will always happen.

Seems like an age since we've chatted. And I think this is symptomatic of what is happening with the site. It seems to me that the forum is suffering from it's own success. To me it feels quite different from the site I joined 5 years ago. Much MUCH bigger. I find it almost impossible now to follow the site and find myself being selective on the threads I do. I no longer greet new members, not because I don't welcome them but simply because it takes too long to do. It felt a much more intimate place 5 years ago and I felt there was more discussion. Back then there was more time to really appreciate and contribute to thread builds.

This isn't a criticism simply an observation and I don't want to sound all nostalgic for the 'good old days' (5 years ago lol!!!)

Anyway, hi Ron hope you're well

Paul, you're spot on with your post......It was a lot simpler back then when you and I joined, with plenty of time to comment properly...all I seem to have time to do nowadays is click on the doodah list! But time marches on, as does Scale Models - and long may this great forum do so.

I'm good thanks. Not had a lot of time for sticking bits of plastic together but I hope to be back soon. The business and family commitments have been occupying me over the past year and there never seems to be enough time. Hope to be back with the 2nd Battle of Britain build soon. Hope you and Mrs Ron are good and keep those dios coming!

I read, re-read and look forward to all posts. As many as I can get to any way. I also don't always say 'hi' or leave a message of congrats on a good build, if I see that there are quite a few positives already. I will then tag up a few of them in agreement or liking, and be on my way.

I always enjoy new photos of new work, or even new photos of old work (i have a few lined up just for that), so this place is never boring. (and it's good to come to when the paint and/or glue is drying...)

I try to comment on as many posts as I can.But as others have said there isn't always time to view everything.This is still a great forum though.Im also on the IPMS Facebook page.But I find that too big and impersonal.

When you click on new posts no matter how many pages there are you will see a bit of text that says

Threads below this have not been updated since your last visit but have unread messages

Once you have read them or any thread they will no longer show in the new posts unless a new posts is added

and feel very bad if i miss a post to a reply i have made,and the last thing i wont is that people feel im ignreing them,

i have the same problem......compounded by the fact i frequent 5 different modelling forums (and am a mod on one of them) and find myself skimmimg threads on all of them!,.....just dont have the time lol

i tend to be selective when i dont have the time, just looking at stuff that is on interest to me. not the best cos i dont like to miss stuff but its the only way i can do it

one thing i do like about this place is the little 'like' 'great build''funny' etc buttons........at least its quick to show you appretiate something when you dont want to type anything

I took a couple of years' break from the forum (not purposely, I just didn't post for a while and then, kind of, forgot it was here...), but it's certainly changed a lot in my absence. Bigger, yes, but it also seems better organized, I too like the 'quick response' buttons but there does still seem to be a genuine friendliness from the vast majority of members so it feels like a smaller forum. I can't say I feel any pressure to comment on every post, nor would I expect everyone to comment on each of mine; otherwise just ends up with inane posts for the sake of it.
