    NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE.

I need some advice from you please.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one can be picked to talk about as there are others doing their talks on other techniques.

There is a model meet and one of the categories is effects and how you made them. This is not a competition, like the disaster of my entering the sunken cannon fiasco. It is to show various techniques and a brief 'HOW-TO' to show others, these are not judged and no prize is given, something which I like.

After thinking and looking at my models I have come up with three options.

One: The sunken U-Boat. How to do the sand/scree mix, damage and painting.

Two: My UC. How to do damage and then apply the various rusts.

Three: My 'Little Soldiers' Dunkirk dio doing the PVA and brick dust coating on the jetty and

    sealant as a water feature.

But I am unsure of couple of things. A, are they good enough to do a detailed sheet and talk and B, which do I choose? I do not consider myself a great modeller and although I enjoy showing on this site my forays into showcasing pieces have met with disaster, hence I don't show any more, so want honest answers and opinions from people whom I respect in this field.

Any help and why would be appreciated guys and gals, thank you.

I have added a POLL too which may help narrow things down, or not. No vote for me just what you people think.

    Si

All 3 are darned fine and would make a great talk on technique, but the U-Boat just clinches it for me.

To be honest Si, I couldn't choose a best. All three have their merits and offer different techniques, so why not take along all of them and give a mini talk on each?

Not very helpful for your poll, but I'm snookered old lad!

I should have made it clear Ron, only one is allowed as there will be others doing their talks on panel washes, pre-shading, salt techniques, chipping etc etc. So all three would be out of the question so just need one. Glad you like all three and each hold there own, just wanted other opinions as to what looks more interesting.

It's really hard to say mate , I agree with Ron but I think the most instructive would be the UC as it can be added to any model or dio if they go for a big rusty hulk like your UC or if it's just a bit of wear and tear on a vehicle or metal

That rusty tank looks extremely realistic, I for one would be very interested to know how you achieved it so I'm sure others would too. (Is there a build article here on the forum describing how you did it, BTW?)

Understood Si, my heart says U. Boat, but from a neutral point of view, the rusty U.C. just get's the vote!

Si if it was me I would go for the rusty uc. my reasoning for this is simply I went to see monumental men at the cimema last week and there is a scene of a beach landing. during this scene thare is an rusty uc. My imediate thought was si's dio. Enouh said mate

Not much of one Mike, http://www.scale-models.co.uk/threads/universal-carrier-forgotten-relic-link-to-finished-model-on-first-post.25195/ When I do the write up I will break it down better.

Definately the rusty tank. I really like good weathering effects and that is one that modellers can enjoy having a play with on any type of metal surface.

rusty tank for me as well, just superb weathering but so hard to say as all 3 are fantastic in each way

As said above, very difficult to separate as all have their merits.

However I have to say the UC for me, as the rust effects & metal damage are just excellent.
