James, after having a further look, yours should be covered by the version in the link above. Model number 867 is the .40 class. As for the revision of the A after 867 I am afraid I don't know-sorry about that.
The drawings show the tail-wheel attached via a collar and two screws. What does the tail-wheel look like? As for the wings, it does look like you need to drill to attach.
If it is the fixed tailwheel it should have holes on that are marked for screwing, fits into/onto base of fuselage IRC, not rudder. The other variety is the steerable one and that fits into a holder-or something like it. As for fitting the rudder to the ailerons-not sure, check to see if the assembly fits via screws, could be from underneath or there is a slide assembly. I wouldn't have thought you would have needed to cut the covering to attach the rudder assembly-this is what this model is about-pre-done so no covering and doping.
