We have all suffered from this Right!

    What? I hear you ask.

    Endofbuildalitus

Where you have taken time on a build making sure not to rush any stage. That is until you get to the home straight. Then it is all consuming like being a jockey in the grand national. You are on the home run you can see the finish line with only but a few hurdles to go. Third to last coming up a quick check over your shoulder to make sure you are clear YOUR OVER. Two more to go second to last BOY your doing well. You jump YOU THINK you have cleared it. Then you eat a face full of dirt. As you look around bewildered you see your mount. Only it isn't looking as good as it did before the second to last. Why? because you deviated from the plan of taking it steady.

You seen the finish line and Endofbuildalitus set in. Pretty quick I might add! Unfortunately it is a glaring mistake that anyone would spot. so you sidle of to a quite spot to rethink and assess the damage.

YES I have just had this affliction and am now doing the above to the MH-60

O yes. Think part of the problem is Terry that is in my case I can see and imagine the next model in line.

Silly thing is that I speed up then decide that is just not good enough and redo again. Getting better but to see your model finished is the goal and not blasting the ball wide is a challenge.

I think most of us have been there, I know I have, although my disability means I have to slow down. But I agree, many times I have taken my time to try and get things right and with 90% complete-you just want to get the thing done. A curse of the modeller-some little demon pops up right near the end and you just work faster-many a ruin has ended up being made due to the last sprint for line.

You have done the right thing Terry, take a break and see what damage limitation can be done-hope you can sort it.

Laurie and Si you are right I can almost taste the anticipation of the forth coming builds. It is almost like being a kid in a sweet shop. you have one in the bag or so you think and want more.

Alan I am peed off with myself with this one as I have purposely not rushed it. With all the little extra scratch building I had done inside. I may still be able to save the day.

Did the same with the Merlin I am building Terry. Seats were a mess. But took a step back and solved it. In fact it gave me ideas I had not thought about to add to the model.

Amazing thing is I enjoyed the scratch building so much to cover up my set back. Taught me a lesson think imaginatively and not out of the box all the time.

I know what you mean terry, I've been so mad with myself some times , but your doing the right thing walk away and come back with a fresh mind , you'll probably see it in a different light after that and it won't be as bad

This is why I advocate having 2 builds on the go at different stages - take a break from one & tackle the other.

My concern is that I am phasing out of building again. My general interest level in my own projects is on the low side.

I do enjoy viewing the photos and commenting on the works I see posted here, and will continue to do so, but my own work is falling off.

There have been some personal things getting in the way as well, and that has been a huge damper on the creative urge.

Yeah, not sure how this will play out yet, we'll see.

                            yup!

Been there often. I find its the builds that have taken a long time. I seam to start loosing interest and just plough into it to either get the interest back, or get it done before I loose all interest in it.

A nice quick build and no problem. This is one of the reasons I normally don't hang about once I get started.

I think we all suffer from the finish line rush. The thing is with taking a break from it, if you leave it too long you tend to just forget about it and start another build anyway. That's why just like Patrick I tend to have two on the go to take a break from 1.
