    MODELLERS BLOCK!

hi folks, just wondered if anyone else gets the modellers equilevant of writers block? i cant seem to really immerse in my models lately. everytime i start, ill glue maybe two or three bits together and then just stare at it blankly for twenty minutes, have a ciggie and give up! its doing my head in cos my builds are taking that long, im getting bored with the same project. just cant seem to motivate myself

Yep. I have written books and poetry and been published and many times I would just sit and stare at the screen, of course this hobby waned and I don't do it anymore. But the same applies to modelling, made kits as a kid then in my early 20's then nothing for many years with only getting back into it through my lad wanting Warhammer play-boards. Even now I have weeks where I just cannot be bothered and like you Rob, glue a couple of pieces and just leave it. Think most of use go through this phase.

Don't force it sounds like a break is needed I have about six unfinished kits going on at the moment but haven't touched any off them for days been to tired from work not in the right frame of mind for models plus at last the weather is nice so enjoying that instead I enjoy models better in the winter months as the weather kind of limits other things you can do . Good thing is you can always pick up from where you left off easily at anytime shouldn't worry though your mojo will make a return cheers John

My mojo goes when I over reach myself , I know how I want it to look but no mater how I do it it's not right and I give up until I get insperation , what I tend to do is dig out a small easy kit like a 1/72 aircraft like that it soon gets my mojo back

                Have the same "problem" guys

                I do nothing!!

Maybe the motive will be that the spring "begins".

Just hope my mojo comes back soon!!

I seem to be having a lot of mojo moments at the mo. Go to work, come home with the incentive to get on with things, coffee, chat...bloody hell, where's the evening gone? Oh well, there's always tomorrow...or is there???

hi Rob, im a great one for doing that as well sit down with a cig,and my cofffeee ,ops:

ok lets start ,1 , 2 ,3 ,4 hrs later and 3 cups off coffee and 6 or so smokes, still looking at it

but then on days i get , can you do this or that after 3 or 4 times thats it ,the feeling is gone for the day,

as almost ,most off the lads have said we all get it, just a part of being a modeler, its just us-people who are talented :P

Anyone who hasn't had 'The blocks' is telling porkies!

I've found two things that work for me....

Leave well alone. The urge to model again will return in it's own good time, just be patient.

                            Or.....

Go on Ebay and have a look for the more obscure models on there and go for something totally different to what you normally build and have a crack at it.

Form my standing, the worst thing for me losing it, is repetition. Modelling the same genre be it aircraft or tanks, whatever, starts to get me loosing interest and I can feel 'the blocks' returning......but once I find something different to try, it certainly helps me get back on track.

Everyone is different, and like the common cold, sadly this modellers 'illness' have no known cure!!

Apart from all the above, the sun's out, it's summer, so st**f model making.....sort of! Is this a kind'a block?

Haven't been near a kit for over a month, can't seem to find the time as the weather's got better and cycling and children's clubs take over! So I have an almost involuntary block...
