    A red letter day - non-model related

I've had one of those red letter days today. You know the ones where something happens in your life that you'll remember for a long long time. Well today i fell in love/lust with something......

My mate has bought one and let me sit on it. It made me go all funny and giggly :emo12: A true work of art imho. And it sounds fantastic. God i'm drooling just looking at the pic.

So best i start saving my pennies me thinks. Then when it's time it's adios to the ZX6R and hello Ducati 848 Evo

Theres something about Ducati's isn't there.

I am determined to have a Ducati 748, 916, 996, (red natiurally), in my shed at some point, the 848, 1098, 1198 are lovely too, especially after the oddity that was the 998, (though that's growing on me), a nice return to the stying cues of the 916 with modern sharper angles.

However, It would be sitting alongside the ZXR750, (the first bike I really fell in love with), it still makes me grin from ear to ear when I ride it and I just love the look, I really really wish there was a model kit of it

Easily the most gorgeous Japanese sports bike ever made, (for anyone who mentions the fireblade, just look at the styling of the first gen blades and tell me where they got the design inspiration from, RC30 and ZXR, undoubtedly).

The 916 naturally is the most beautiful italian sports bike ever made, Even my desert rat version

    Thats a beautiful colour BTW

Just re-read that, sounds greedy but I mean just one of the above, engine size aside the design is the same for all hence any one of the above, not all, though if someone wants to donate a few?

I remember my Sgt buying a 916 when they first came out. We were based at Bruggen in Germany at the time and that's when i fell in love with them. I love GSXRs and ZX6Rs but as you say there is something about a Duke that does it for me. The sound from the exhaust and dry clutch is lovely. Really don't like the front end on the 998/999 but they hit the nail on the head with the 848/1098/1198

I originally wanted a 748 in yellow but i've moved on with time now. Don't mind the red but all to common. So this Stealth Black looks great

You saying i'm living in the past? :ranting2:

Right, me, my platforms and mullet are out of here!:damnit:

Nice as the new one is I tend to have things make an impact on me and stick, hence the ZXR, mine is a H1 model too, I like most up to the K, they lost a bit of their charm when the hoover pipes got hidden and the H1 was and still is my favourite. Same with the 916, if I could afford and bought a 1098 etc I'd always know it wasn't quite what I wanted, I had the chance to get a Monster for a good price a year or so ago but again, nice as it was i'd have been selling it a few months later.

I was very close to buying a 916 a few years back but a mate told me I looked like a gorilla sitting on a kids bicycle :whatever:

I went for the Yam instead

Luckily i'm a short ass Andy so i 'fit' the bike. Althought don't get me wrong. I'm not aerodynamic though. Years of alcohol and chocolate have taken their toll lol

Yeh, curry & beer did it for me :emo:

Beautiful machine though or as my old mate Col would say "it's a good looking tool"

i read up alot of reports about the 1198 and everyone said it's too much as a road bike. You have to take it on the track to get it's full potential out
