I was looking at a twin halogen magnifyer at a craft fair about 2 months ago in Manchester .I went with the wife who is into cross stitch . It was £25.00. If you look through any cross stitch mags at your local WH smith they always advertise. Ive seen lots of them in there -
If it's the same twin halogen light I was looking at it's made by a company called Searchlight, we deal with them so I rang them up and it's discontinued, even the rep couldn't get hold of one from another stockiestshame it was just what I was looking for, someone else mentioned craft mag I will have a look through the wife's, thanks

I know our local craft shop have worklights in. I got the wife one for christmas a couple of years ago.It has a daylight tube and a magnifyer with a heavey base and adjustable shaft. She can sit in the chair and pretend she is being interrogated. I think it has turned her hair white!!!!!Comment

I've just seen the price of day light bulbs in the shops, £3.45 each, I think last time I got some, I got 10 from work and they cost £2.80 for 10, you wouldn't believe what the mark-up is on lamps, if you need a new tube let me know even with P&P I should be able to save you a few quidComment

Thanks John .
I will bear that in mind. I have used the light only a few times for really hard to see places when applying decals. They are a very good idea. But as you say , not cheapComment

Thanks Barry I've had a quick look there and so far found one at £11.95 that looks like it will do the job, beats the £145Comment

You are welcome John, for those not aware of this company they offer some remarkable bargains,a lot of the stock is ex MOD etc and built to last, much of it still grease wrapped, they attend most of the larger model shows and engineering events, manned with knowledgeable staff in the centre of hundreds of stillages set out in a large square,it must take a furniture van to lift that little lot plus the logistics of the armed forces !
The stock is priced to sell, and quickly, where else could you get a quality three foot steel rule for £1.50 ?Comment

When I first left school I worked for a office furniture manufacture and we had a MOD contract, the people there used to say it never got used just stored then sold, now I know who byComment

When I was in the Sixth Form (before I got asked to leave!) I used to get all my gear from the Army & Navy Stores.
I had a huge Khaki Great coat that I wore for riding my bike which used to weigh a ton when it got wet. kept me warm though. I also had a battledress that I used for my paper round and a rucksack for school use.
They used to come without the buttons so mine had my dads old Brass Merchant Navy ones sewn on which looked the part.Comment

Now here are some interesting facts about MOD purchases-say for example one million khaki underpants are required ? 'Procurements/officer/MOD' will happily order two million to make up for losses in 'Combat/Wear and Tear',only half a million are actually distributed to 'Units/Stores/Utilities' other one and a half million are placed into 'Stores/Mothball protected' said underpants go obsolete due to material unsuitable for climatic conditions, requiring new purchase, enter 'MOD/Public/Auctions' to get rid of surplus stock due to 'MOD/Revised issue/Order' stock purchased by Army Navy stores giving benefits to millions of civilians now wearing khaki underpants !! everything the military order gets duplicated, triplicated including paperwork giving hundreds of jobs to personnel.
You think I am joking dont you ?Comment
