Early Bowie was his best Space Oddity, Aladdin Sane Hunky Dory and Ziggy StardustNever really got Bowie, apart from Ziggy. Love early AC and SAHBs though. Always thought Queen were a phase you went through on the way to better stuff. Did you catch on to Bebop Deluxe? One of the great underrated bands to me. Saw the stranglers about a dozen times, always a good band up until they tried to go “pop”. Prefer SLF to the pistols. Not got into Japanese stuff, but my daughter is. She has just come back from Warsaw where she saw Dir En Grey two nights running. Love Studio Ghibli animation though. Light years ahead of western stuff.
I too got the anime but from my girl, I do enjoy the 'mecha' genera like Stratos 4, I have built the Airfix TSR2 Ms and have a few kits in the stash to build as Stratos4 types, a MiG31 being the next upon the bench
I do enjoy Studio Ghibli too, especially Spirtied Away, I have tickets fro the live version in London
The only exception to Miyazaki's finest is 'Grave of the Fireflies'! Such a sad and depressing anime, I really wish I hadn't seen it, had a profound effect on me for weeks!Comment

Ah, I missed that. I’ve got one Red Noise album that I’ve only listened to a couple of times. Never did much for me. I also have “Das Cabinet”, “Blues moons….“, and “Quit dreaming…”. Can’t remember anything about them at all :surprised: . I got them in a job lot I bought many years ago when vinyl could be had for a few pence a record. Love the cover on Axe victim, but album wise I think Live in the air age takes some beating, The solo onYorkshire landscape is exceptional, with Sister seagull probably being my second favourite. I also have a soft spot for Drastic plastic, by the way.Nope, he means Bill Nelson's Red Noise, his band that followed Bebop Deluxe, their two singles being 'Furniture Music' and 'Revolt into Style' a complete departure from his Bebop days, Futurama was a great album along with Sunburst Finish but my face was Axe Victim!
Mr Nelson lived about twenty minutes from me back thenComment

Grave of the fireflies is probably the greatest anti war film ever made. It’s the one that shows anime cartoons are not just for kids. Not an easy watch, but essential in my view. Love spirited away but my real favourite is My neighbour Totoro. Just bowled away by the Cat Bus, creative genius I think. We watched that so many times when my daughter was growing up.Early Bowie was his best Space Oddity, Aladdin Sane Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust

If you ever get to Tokyo (you might have done this) make sure you visit Ghibli studios. It is a great day out, it showcases fantastic creativity and attention to detail, with none of the rampant commercialisation of Disney. The short film they show you, the water spider and the pond skater, is truly uplifting. One of the best depictions of the natural world interwoven with a heartwarming story. As far as I know it can only be seen there.Comment

Yup...
Just had to play them again! I blame John Peel and his daily 10pm show.
Here's the album...
And I also have this slightly later 7 inch...

I sympathize with your plight, missus Miko and I are staff to our cats, I'm sure given the choice missus Miko would choose 'Rumpuss' affectionately knows as 'wumps' over me!

You're right, they do, I would feel a little uncomfortable watching them when my step daughter was going through her cosplay phase!
Japanese culture is weird!
Miko (most westerners believe 'hentai' means p*rn, it doesn't, it means pervert and is presented as an allegory of what 'not' to do! which is why it's always always censored)Comment
