Hi all. Just a quick update. I think I've finally finished the cockpit tub. Wasn't really sure what the colour scheme would have been, so I've gone with the 50's/60's black look, which I think seems about right for the period. The seats have come out a lot better than I thought they would, and I've even managed to do the throttle levers !! I might actually leave one of the canopies open....

the tub will still need a bit of work to fit nicely, and I'm going to try and do some instruments on the "bridge" section, so fingers crossed !! Got a bit more done on this. The intake splitters were bothering me, so I thought I'd have a crack and sorting them. The bottom shape was ok, but the top was just too rounded. So I've just let in a bit of card and re-shaped it. Quite happy with the result, look a lot more accurate, I think.

I'm not sure who Mr Fumiji got to engineer this kit, but he needs shooting. I was just going to ignore the inside of the intakes, but I thought I couldn't make it much worse!! And as you can see, if you like sanding, this is the kit for you. There are literally mm gaps on the underside to fill!!! When was the finish date again...?????

Cheers, Neil

Finally got the intakes on, so it looks like a Phantom at last !!!

Now some major gap filling, followed by what I think may be a rather long sanding session !!

Cheers, Neil

Neil, if you had told me this was the Airfix kit I would have believed you, with the exception of that huge step under the intakes. The sanding, the filling... Great work mate, I bet you can't wait to get some primer or paint over that horrid white plastic. Soldier on mate!Comment
