That's why I sold all my old Airfix kits! I know it's possible to get some excellent results from this but there's a huge amount of work needed to do that. Best of luck Mike.

Yes these old kits are certainly more of a challenge. How of earth did we manage with them back in the 70's and how come they did not put us off!!! Or is it that we are spoilt today with the superb new tools, I think that is the case for me anyway... Good luck with this one I will follow it with interest.Comment

On with the build. I had started by airbrushing the gun steel bits and black bits with them part built to make the colours easy to deal with. However, it occurred to me this was getting very matt black and won't be of much visual interest so why would you show it? After a bit of googling, I came across this image which was far more interesting and formed the basis of my colour scheme:
And here's my effort:
In spite of the collection of Humbrol in the background, this was all Vellojo. I aibrushed steel, then hairy stick gloss black using Model Colour, which is the first and last time I'll use that as I found it far too thick. Dry brushing of the Rolls Royce logo to make that more visible and a quick wash was made out of Humbrol smoke weathering powder to bring out the lines and make it look like it's been used and now we have a much more interesting subject.
Which I still don't know if I'm going to show or not!Comment
