Looks good John, nice and clean paint work. For the bare metal, I'd go a mix of polished aluminium and plain old aluminium for different panels if that's the look you're going for . Only preserved aircraft or fresh out the factory B-17s would have looked shiny all over. Lots of images online to ponder, here are some links and a photo of the crew

Thanks Joe very interesting story.
