Paul's SturmPanzer IV Brummbar, 1/35, Tamiya

    next thing on the bench.............

really old kit, was new tool back in 1976!

ive got some Academy aftermarket tracks for a Panzer IV chassis so might try them instead of the rubber ones, might use the figures or some MiniArt ones i have.....or maybe none at all...we shall see

I like the idea there Paul in the photos, with the bushes on the tank.

at this point i honestly dont know in which direction this will go, what colours/pattern i shall use for the camo, etc

id love to do it with trees and brush draped over it but i wouldnt know where to start!

loads of pics out there, just none in colour it seems from back in the day

one thing ive learnt from doing a bit of research (wasting time on the laptop the memsahib calls it lol) is that its an early-mid production run as it dosnt have the left hand scabbed on MG........but it dosnt have the zim that it should have as that was deleted on the later vehicles.....and no, im not going to try adding zim! lol

              Hey Paul

Another golden oldie from the Tamiya back catalog. I've never actually built one of these but I have tackled several Tamiya Pz IVs (Pz IV/Brumbar - same chasis) and they all went together well. You're right about the Zimm but I do understand modellers not wanting to undertake this task.

I'm sure this 'Grizzly' will look the part however you chose to complete it.

              Cheers

Great Reference photos Paul mate, I like the camo net one though that might be very difficult to pull off. Whatever you decide, hope you have fun mate!

had a few problems getting the schurzen rails on....left hand one is particulary skewed........not sure if its something ive done or if its slightly warped.........so i think this might be getting some battle damage to the schurzen themselves

next step is primer then i can think about getting some paint on

had a few problems along the way to get this far

i wanted to do a squiggly line camo........failed once.......reprimed, put down the dark yellow and had another go.......failed.....reprimed for another go...............and my compressor died!!!.......taken til next  payday for another..........decided not to try the squiggly again since its already had so many coats, any more and im going to be getting problems cos of that!.....so went for a usual 3 colour yellow/green/brown.....it might not be the best ive done but im going to have to go with it.......its currently shiny cos its had a coat of varnish ready for the decals and then the weathering will tone it all down

ive done a bit of 'damage' to the scurzen so we shall see how that turns out in the end

so ive given it a black enamel wash.....thing was i didnt have any gloss so used matt and when thinned it went sort of 'bitty' and made a dirty wash........its had some matt varnish on top which has toned everything down

i was going to do an oil spot filter but now m not sure i will bother
