It's been a productive day today - some progress on this bust, virtually finished:

The headband is based on one at the IWM.
Now I plan to leave it for a week, not look at it so that I can return with 'fresh eyes' which will help me to see how and where it needs to be tweaked. On the whole i am pleased so far.Comment

Jon - I wonder the same thing! I think it is a matter of not expecting to get it right first time, that some parts need to be re-worked, both adding and taking away putty. This is the third nose!!!Comment

Finished sculpting him and produced a casting which I have started painting.
Usually I start with the face, but in this case I have started with the headdress - Vallejo air paints, shades of grey with a little white. Thereis still room for some highlights which I will add when the rest is painted.

The blob is blu-tack to protect the face.

Here it is with Vallejo acrylic base coats for the uniform and face.

Next - adding the first oil paints.
