Bowcat's 1/35 Meng Gepard A1/A2

Hi guys,

Although I'm not starting this build for a while I thought I'd start a thread with the box art.

I'm going to build this one OOB (as I have quite a few aftermarket parts ordered for other GB kits) although I am thinking about doing a one off camo job that featured on a Gepard that was tested in Cyrpus (because Cyprus is my favourite place to be :smiling.

Another Cypriot fan here so I like how you're thinking!

The day I begin building cold war armour this is definitely high up on the list but I'm playing it "safe" with a paper panzer for my AA/Flak when I'm able to start it.
I'm really impressed with the quality of Meng kits as I'm just building my first one and I've added another one to the stash just because it's so good.
Good value for money too since they're even a tad better than Tamiya kits - solely based on what I've seen so far though...

This GB is going out with a bang for sure!

Cheers gents.

I'm a big fan of Meng kits Jens, I've built the King Tiger and Bradley (both of which went together like a dream), and have this, the Panther A (that you are also building) and the Abrams in the stash.

Right, having finished an aircraft for the Winter Camo GB I thought it was time to get back to some armour, so I'm making a start on this.

What's in the box pics.

Seems to be up to Meng's usual standards, nor flash as far as I can see and nice crisp molding.

That kit should build into quite an impressive beast!
Looking forward to your progress :thumb2:

Interesting to see how much better this is from the old Tamiya kit.

This kit is going together like a dream, the fit is near perfect.

Finished off the wheels and suspension and made a start on the upper hull.

Very nice start Bob, it looks like it's going to be hours of fun with the tracks though.

Your not wrong. I think I will take the same approach as I did with the Bradley, just do 10 links every time I sit down at the bench rather than do them all in one go.

Cheers Moni.

Speaking of tracks, 12 down 158 to go. :tired:

Each track is made of 5 parts, the central part in particular is very fine and has 4 attachment points that need very careful clean up.

Good news is the 4 pads just clip together, no gluing.

Very nice, Bob. Plenty of nice detail.
Looking at those bags of track bits makes me glad I'm building a truck!
