    Bowcat's Airfix Harrier GR9A

    Hi Guys,

Having finished up the Toon GB yesterday, I am now ready to embark on my trip back to the '70s. :smiling3:

I'm building the Airfix Harrier which comes with a tube of glue, 2 brushes and a staggering 6 pots of paint!!

In the spirit of the GB I will be using the sort of tools I did as a kid, for that purpose I am limiting myself to these.

    Hi guys,

Made a start tonight with the cockpit and pilot. Pretty awful by today's standards, but better than 10 year old me would have done.

      Hi Bob
6 pots of paint - you are really spoilt :tongue-out3: Pilot and cockpit looks rather good.

        Cheers Jim.

No flesh colour so the pilot looks a little pale. :tears-of-joy:

          Hi guys,

This one is moving along quite nicely. Got the cockpit installed in the nose, air intake and airbrake interior built and painted, directional nozzles built and painted, fuselage and wings together, nose attached and intake shrouds fitted.

          God bless bank holidays. :smiling5:

            Hi Bob
That is looking rather good :thumb2: Seems to have gone together nicely so I suspect it is one of Airfix's later offerings.

The fit is so so. I've been using the kit glue as filler which seems to have worked so far.

                Happy Easter all.

Finished up the building yesterday and today have started on the painting. I tried to convert my larger round brush to a flat with some success.

The paint though is awful, even thinned with finest London tap water it's really hard to work with.

The Revell kits at least have that going for them: the paint works quite well. Airfix rather has the edge in colour selection provided, of course.

It might just be the age of them. They were quite separated and some of them quite gummy.

Well, they have the edge in counting up to 4!

I've decided to call the painting done. It's really pretty poor but I think I will only make it worse if I carry on.

Going to let this dry overnight and add the decals tomorrow.
