Andrew's 3x 1/72 Plastic Soldier Company Stugs - some camo

Hi all

So a bit late to the party on the GB (sorry Bob!).

Finally managed to start these at a recent model club night and get them to where they are whilst watching the Saturday lunchtime FA Cup clash. Usual Plastic Solder Company standard. Not up to 'proper' kit standards but nonetheless nicely detailed for wargaming kits. Nice crisp moulding and ZERO flash! :smiling2:

Three kits in the box with the option to make two Stug III versions and a StuH 42. Both trapezoidal and saukopf mantlets are available. I went for saukopf as I already have two with the trapezoidal mantlet. I also invested in metal barrels because they don't snap like plastic and look soooooo much better than the kit ones.

I've got them to the point where the main build is complete and all the pieces are off the sprues, I've just got to make up mind as to how many hatches to have open and which ones.

Obviously, as they're intended for wargaming, the plastic is a little heavy in places so it can stand up to the handling but I'd rather have that than they break the first time they're used.

Oh, and by the way, I picked these up at cheaper than the usual RRP, so each kit cost £5.57 plus the cost of the metal barrel!

Two part tracks
What I refer to as 'length and length' tracks. Again, won't win any prizes but look reasonable. The mounting guides in each corner are completely hidden by the wheels once mounted, apart from the very ends which look like track teeth (or will once I've trimmed them down a bit).

Have to agree, these are very good as wargames models. Detail is thick, lacking and sometimes wrong for serious display models, but for wargames models they’re ideal. Lots of options in each set, so you don’t need to make them all exactly the same either.

Have to agree, these are very good as wargames models. Detail is thick, lacking and sometimes wrong for serious display models, but for wargames models they’re ideal. Lots of options in each set, so you don’t need to make them all exactly the same either.

Exactly. Does it look like a Stug or StuH? Absolutely!!

And you're right about the variety!! Definitely another one of the plus sides of most PSC kits. I think I've made every version of the Churchills that you can from their kits!

Hi all

So these were painted at the same time as my Pz IVs and as I said with them, I used the AB session as an experiment to play with different colours to see what I liked. I also went for big stripes too, just as a test!

The green on this is Vallejo Model Color 'Cam. Olive Green (RLM 80)' (70.894). The brown is Vallejo Model Air 'Armour Brown (RAL8017)' (71.041), their take on official Rotbraun RAL 8017 (red-brown). I was surprised just how dark it turned out but that's probably a bit to do with the scale accentuating it somewhat.

To be honest I've seen a few things similar-ish but nothing specifically for the 9th SS Pz Division, which is what my German forces nominally represent. I had some new paints to try out and a new-ish airbrush I'm still getting to grips with and so I thought why not take a bit of a liberty - for better or worse!
