Nice are you going to sort out that over sized spinner?

There are a few AM bits around to 'upgrade' it. But it still makes a cracking model without them. Defo watching this one as i'd love to build one.

I didn’t know about the spinner problem, I’ll take a look when I start it Peter.

Nice to have you in John, but I will have no hesitation but to split you both up if you start messing about. :tongue-out3:

I built the Airfix 1:24 Spitfire a while back. I really liked the surface detail, so the finished model (despite the restrained cockpit) looks fine sat on the shelf. If Airfix have done the same with the Hurricane, it's going to look flippin' marvellous.

Nice one Ian , ive got the same kit in the stash , but at my build rate id never get it finished in the time frame . By all accounts the spinner is a bit too large in diameter , something about the merlin being to scale and the prop made to match , speaking of the engine ive read that the cowling panels wont fit with the engine in place so of youre wanting to have it closed up leave the engine out ( thats what im planning for mine , and having the merlin on display alongside) I reckon the spinner can be sorted by just sanding the rear a bit so it doesnt look as large where it meets the nose . Cheers tony

Made a start on this one, I’m not fitting the engine, and there’s plenty of flash to sort out.

                        Nice start Ian.

Quite uncanny how the pilot looks just like Kenneth Moore when he 'flew' a Hurricane (and Spitfire) in 'Reach for the Sky' - The story of Douglas Bader.

I was thinking something similar Ron , like how old does the pilot look ! Most BOB pilots were barely out of their teens weren’t they ?
He might be old but hes armless enough :confounded: ( sorry )
Great start Ian , the cockpit looks lovely , but the flash ! You can class this as your first vac form ! Must have a look at mine in the stash , see if it’s suffered the same

Yes, indeedy. The only give away is the kit pilot wears flying boots. Whereas for obvious reasons, Bader didn't get cold legs, so always wore shoes when flying his aircraft!
